Ford On Film

Chronicles of a silver screen addict

Don Hertzfeldt is back with World of Tomorrow Episode 2

Longtime readers of Ford On Film will know I’m a huge fan of Texan animator Don Hertzfeldt. I first discovered his work, as many did, when he released the truly remarkable World of Tomorrow two years ago. A truly mind-blowing science fiction short about cloning, the film instantly became my favourite of 2015. Since then, I’ve watched everything he’s ever made, rewatched It’s Such A Beautiful Day multiple times, and spent nearly £50 on his limited edition blu ray set.

After a long wait, Don Hertzfeldt is finally back with the surprise sequel to World of Tomorrow, The Burden of Other People’s Thoughts. Receiving rave reviews on the festival circuit, Hertzfeldt has just released a short teaser, and while it reveals almost nothing about the plot, it’s safe to say we’re in for another beautiful, hilarious, tearjerking slice of oddball sci-fi. Hertzfeldt might be the best filmmaker in the world today, and I have high hopes for World of Tomorrow Episode 2.
